1. Purpose of the app
Sparkmaster is a maintenance and service companion for Yamaha and Mercury outboards. The app helps users record engine details, maintenance history, checks, photos and other boating-related notes.
Sparkmaster is designed primarily as an offline-first app. This means that the app’s core data is stored by default on the user’s own device and is not sent to Sublime Web Oy’s servers without a separate user action or consent.
2. Website
Sparkmaster.app is a static website. The website does not provide user accounts, forms or payment functionality, and the website itself does not directly collect personal data.
If a user contacts us by email, Sublime Web Oy receives the information the user chooses to send, such as the sender’s email address, message content and any attachments.
3. Information processed by the app
3.1 Data stored on the device
The app may store the following types of data on the user’s device:
- Engine details, such as model, serial number, model year, engine hours and boat name
- Maintenance history, such as completed service work, dates, parts, work steps and personal notes
- Photos added by the user, such as photos of the engine, parts or maintenance steps
- Checklists and service notes
- Trip data, such as GPS coordinates, route information and time, if the user starts trip tracking
- Random identifier (UUID) if the user uses community or contribution features
By default, this data is stored locally on the user’s device.
3.2 Location data
Sparkmaster may process location data only if the user uses trip tracking or another location-based feature.
Location data is processed only based on the user’s own action, such as starting trip tracking. Location data is not collected continuously in the background and is not sent to Sublime Web Oy by default.
If trip tracking is not enabled, the app does not process location data.
3.3 Photos
The user may add photos to the app, for example photos of the engine, parts or maintenance steps. By default, photos are stored on the user’s device.
If the user later shares a photo through a community feature or sends it with a bug report, the user is responsible for ensuring that the photo does not contain personal data, registration numbers, faces, location details or other content the user does not want to share.
3.4 Community and contribution features
If the user decides to publish a community contribution, such as part compatibility information, tooling experience, a maintenance tip or a photo, the app may process and publish the content the user has specifically chosen to share.
This may include:
- Random identifier (UUID)
- Text shared by the user
- Photos shared by the user
- Part numbers, model information, tooling information and other content voluntarily provided by the user
Community contributions are voluntary. The app does not publish anything automatically.
The random identifier (UUID) is not the user’s name or email address, but it may be a persistent technical identifier. Therefore, as a precaution, it is treated as personal data where it can be linked to published content.
Published community contributions may be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This means that others may use the published content, provided that the original contribution is credited according to the license terms.
Before publishing, the user should make sure that the shared content does not contain personal data or other information the user does not want to make public.
4. Information we do not collect
By default, Sparkmaster does not collect the following on Sublime Web Oy’s servers:
- User’s name
- User’s email address
- User’s contacts
- Continuous location tracking
- Advertising identifiers
- Social media profiles
- Behavioural analytics
- Advertising network tracking data
If the user sends a bug report or support request by email, the message content and sender’s email address become visible to Sublime Web Oy.
5. Third-party services
At launch, Sparkmaster does not use third-party analytics, advertising networks or user tracking.
Premium features, such as export tools, may be billed through Google Play. Sublime Web Oy does not process users’ payment card or bank details. Payment credentials are handled by Google.
Google payments policy: https://policies.google.com/payments
If the app later adds analytics, crash reporting, cloud sync, user accounts or other third-party services, this Privacy Policy will be updated before or at the time those changes are introduced.
6. How data is used
Data stored in the app is used primarily to allow the user to manage their own engine, maintenance and boating information.
Sublime Web Oy uses support requests and bug reports received by email only to handle the user’s request, investigate issues and improve the service.
Content submitted to community features may be used to display, maintain, moderate and develop community content.
7. Data retention
Locally stored data remains on the user’s device until the user deletes it in the app, clears the app data or uninstalls the app from the device.
Support requests sent by email are retained for as long as necessary to handle the matter, provide customer support and answer possible follow-up questions.
Published community contributions may be retained as part of the community content unless the user requests deletion or there is another reason to remove them.
8. User rights
Under the GDPR, the user may have the right to:
- Access their personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of personal data
- Request restriction of processing
- Object to the processing of personal data
- Receive data in a portable format where applicable
Because the app’s core data is stored by default on the user’s own device, the user can manage, delete and clear most data directly in the app or through the device settings.
If the user has published a community contribution and wants to request its removal, the user can contact support@sparkmaster.app.
9. Security
The user’s local data is protected by the security of the user’s own device. We recommend:
- Use device locking, such as a PIN code, password or biometric lock
- Keep the operating system and the app up to date
- Back up the device regularly
- Do not share photos or notes that contain sensitive or unnecessary personal data
10. Children
Sparkmaster is not directed to children. The app is intended for use in connection with outboard maintenance and service.
Sublime Web Oy does not knowingly collect children’s personal data. If you believe that a child’s personal data has been provided to us, for example through a support request or community contribution, please contact support@sparkmaster.app.
11. International transfers
The app’s local data remains on the user’s device. If the user sends email, uses Google Play payments or publishes a community contribution, data may pass through the systems of the relevant service providers and may be processed outside the EU/EEA according to those providers’ terms and privacy practices.
12. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the app and website evolve. Material changes will be indicated in the app or on the website before or when they take effect.
